Poster Series: Nuclear Future

This illustrated poster series was a part of my senior thesis project. Nuclear Future imagines a world in which the dangers of radiation from nuclear waste are commonplace, and explores a variety of warning systems that have been put forth by scientists, scholars, and artists from all walks of life. From color-changing cats to nuclear-based religions to forbidding landscape architecture, there’s no shortage of creative solutions.

The ‘Uncle Sam’ poster is an iconic piece of American design, and has been repurposed and parodied over and over again. If its popularity continues to maintain its relevancy, informative posters of the future could look something like this.

The thorn landscape has been put forth by researchers as a way to communicate a sense of unease and forbodeing. Inspired by national park posters, this illustration encourages people to come visit the site and learn from it, rather than avoiding it.
